Live pass updates

When a booking changes, the golfer's pass updates on its own — no new email and no re-download. What counts as a change, what the golfer sees, and the timing to expect.

Updated 7/27/2026

The feature that saves clubs the most hassle is the one that happens after the golfer has added their pass: GolfPass keeps it up to date for you. Change a booking in your tee sheet and the pass already on the golfer's phone changes to match — automatically. You never re-send a pass.

What counts as a change

GolfPass tracks the details that appear on the pass. If any of them change in your tee sheet, the pass updates. Common examples:

  • The tee time moves to a different slot.
  • The course or starting point changes.
  • The golfer's name is corrected.

When GolfPass next reads your tee sheet (see How tee-sheet syncing works) and notices the difference, it pushes the new details out to the pass.

What the golfer sees

On both Apple and Google, the pass simply refreshes quietly in the background. The golfer doesn't get a new email and doesn't re-download anything — the pass they already have just shows the new details next time they look at it. On iPhone, they may notice the pass's "updated" note on the back of the card.

This is exactly the behaviour people are used to from airline boarding passes, so it feels natural to golfers without any explanation.

How quickly it happens

Updates are not instant to the second. GolfPass checks your tee sheet on a short cycle (every few minutes), so a change you make takes a little while to reach the phone — usually a few minutes.

This delay is normal and nothing is wrong. If you move a tee time and then check the golfer's pass ten seconds later, give it a few minutes and look again.

A worked example

    1. A golfer is booked for 9
      and has added their pass.
    2. You move them to 9
      in your tee sheet.
    3. On its next cycle, GolfPass sees the new time.
    4. Within a few minutes, the pass on the golfer's phone shows 9
      — no email, no tap, no re-download.

When a pass won't update

If a pass is stuck on old details, it's almost always one of these:

  • The change didn't actually save in your tee sheet.
  • Not enough time has passed yet.
  • The integration is in an error state, so nothing is syncing.
  • You changed something the pass doesn't display, so there's nothing visible to update.

Work through the full checklist in Why isn't a pass updating?. On iPhone, a golfer can also pull down on the open pass to prompt an immediate refresh.
