Tee-time passes are perfect for one-off rounds, but your members and regulars come back week after week. The Player passes section lets you keep a roster of those people and give each one a standing pass that lives in their wallet all season — independent of any single booking.
Players vs tee-time passes
It helps to be clear on the two kinds of pass, because they're used differently:
| Tee-time pass | Player pass | |
|---|---|---|
| Created | Automatically, from a booking | By you, from the Player passes section |
| About | One specific round | A person — a member or regular |
| Lifespan | The booking | Stays in the wallet ongoing |
| Best for | Visitors and one-off bookings | Members, season-ticket holders, regulars |
A golfer can hold both at once — a standing member pass and a tee-time pass for their next round — and they sit side by side in the wallet.
Adding players
Add players from the Player passes section. Each player has a name and contact details, including the email address GolfPass uses to send their add-to-wallet link. Once a player is added and issued a pass, they receive the same friendly email a tee-time golfer gets and add the pass with one tap. See How golfers add their pass.
As with tee-time passes, a player needs a valid email address on their profile to receive their pass. Double-check it when you add someone.
What you can do with players
A player pass is a direct line to your members. With one you can:
- Check them in when they arrive by scanning the pass, and build a visit history over time. See Player check-ins and the timeline.
- Target messages to members specifically. When you send a push, you can choose to reach Player passes only — handy for member events and member-only offers.
- Greet them on arrival with a lock-screen message aimed at players.
- Keep notes on each person — preferences, membership details, follow-ups — that show on their timeline.
When to use players vs tee-time passes
A simple rule:
- Ongoing relationship? Use a player. Members, regulars, anyone you want to recognise and message over time.
- One-off booking? Let the automatic tee-time pass handle it. No roster needed — it's issued the moment the booking syncs.
A great first move after going live is to add your core members as players and give them a pass. It turns GolfPass from a booking tool into a year-round member channel — messages, check-ins, and lock-screen welcomes all become possible.
