Short answers to the things merchants ask most, each pointing to the full guide if you want more.
For golfers
Do golfers need to install an app?
No. Passes live in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, which are already built into every iPhone and Android phone. The golfer taps a link and the pass appears - no app, no account, no password. See How passes work.
How does a golfer add their pass?
They tap Add to Apple Wallet or Add to Google Wallet in the email, from their phone. See How golfers add their pass.
A golfer says the "Add" button does nothing - why?
They're probably opening the email on a computer. Wallet passes can only be added from a phone - ask them to open the same email on their iPhone or Android. See How golfers add their pass.
Does it work on both iPhone and Android?
Yes. Every booking produces both an Apple Wallet and a Google Wallet pass; the golfer's phone uses whichever wallet it has.
How it works
How quickly does a booking become a pass?
Usually within a few minutes. PocketPass checks your tee sheet on a short cycle rather than the instant a booking is made. See How tee-sheet syncing works.
What happens when a tee time changes?
The golfer's pass updates on its own - no new email, no re-download. See Live pass updates. If one isn't updating, see Why isn't a pass updating?.
Which tee-sheet providers are supported?
ChronoGolf and Lightspeed Golf. See Connecting Lightspeed Golf and Connecting ChronoGolf.
Reaching golfers
Can I send golfers a message?
Yes. Send a one-off push notification to people who hold a pass, or set up automatic reminders that fire around every tee time. You can also show a lock-screen welcome when golfers arrive.
Can I message only my members?
Yes - target Customer passes when you send. First sync your member customer types, or add members one at a time. See Managing customers.
Account
A golfer didn't get their pass email - what do I check?
Their email address on the booking, their spam folder, the sync timing, and the integration's health. See The golfer didn't get the email.
How am I billed?
For merchants that come through Lightspeed, billing is handled by Lightspeed, not inside PocketPass. See Billing.
How do I add my staff?
Invite them under Team and choose a role, or make your own role with just the permissions they need. See Team members and roles.
How do I turn on two-factor authentication?
Go to Settings → Security, click Turn on and scan the QR code with an authenticator app. Owners can also require it for the whole team. See Security and two-factor authentication.
I lost the phone with my authenticator app. How do I get back in?
Ask an owner or admin on your team to click Reset 2FA next to you on the Team page, then sign in with your password and set it up again. If you're the only owner, contact PocketPass support. See Security and two-factor authentication.
Can golfers send money to each other?
Yes, if an owner turns it on. There's no member search: the person receiving gives the sender a short-lived code, and the sender confirms with a code emailed to them. Each side sees only a first name and last initial. See Transfers between golfers.
A customer asked me to delete their data. What do I do?
An owner can open their profile and choose Erase customer. Their balance must be zero first. See Managing customers.
Is PocketPass GDPR compliant?
We process your customers' data on your behalf under our Data Processing Addendum, and you're responsible for how you use it where you operate. Take your own advice on your obligations.
Can I see who changed something?
Yes. Settings → Audit log shows who changed what and when, with the before and after, and you can export it. See Audit log.
